Finding a vet experienced with small furries such as rabbits, guinea pigs or chinchillas is not always easy.  vets are not allowed to advertise, for example, so unless they have a web site with rabbit information on, for example, they are difficult to find in a simple search.

The best way to find one is by word of mouth recommendation through lists on web sites, forums or newsgroups.  The vets themselves often refer to small furries as 'exotics'.  Although the term 'exotics' covers reptiles, zoo animals and wildlife, it can be a good search term to use on the Internet if you want to track down a vet interested in rabbits, guinea pigs or chinchillas.

Galens Garden has a Directory where vets interested in, or experienced with, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and related species can list themselves.  We also offer free mini web sites to vets on our sites www.rabbit-vet.co.uk and www.cavy-vet.co.uk to make it easier to find them on the Internet.

A search for 'rodent vets' may also yield some useful results as vets able to operate on hamsters, gerbils and rats stand a good chance of being keen on rabbits, guinea pigs and other species too.

If you can recommend a vet or practice good with rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas or other small furries, please ask their permission to be added to this page and then, if they agree, email me using the contact form with their details.
